Greetings to you from the land of Jammu Kashmir, North India
I would like to express my heavy heart regarding the massive flood that took place in ending month of august its has been our monsoon but it turned so bad to worse many places cloudburst, mudslide, landslide its was so aggressive that our roads got totally disconnected, bridges were collapsed houses were totally drowned and collapsed many families are homeless.
These are the numbers in my region where 250 lives lost, 500 injured, 80 people missing, over 15k houses damaged or collapsed ,758 school buildings declared unsafe, in five villages there was heavy mudslide that our water wells were totally washed away.
The main highways from India—hauling food, fuel, and goods from South to North are still blocked. The laws of gravity keep dumping boulders and dirt from unstable mountains into the voids cleared from the highway. Heavy trucks are still halted on the roads Yet, Kashmiris' are truly resilient. They adapt with admirable grit.
In other news, God is pouring out grace and peace on us amid Kashmir's political gridlock and chaos. Our hope? Jesus’ command to shine His truth in darkness (Matt. 5:16), and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31) meeting real needs—body and soul—to point them to the only True Hope in Christ.
Reminder to myself: Beware of self-interest rationalized as self-care. It’s too easy to expect a government or anyone else to step up to the task within my reach. The personal power of choosing to say “Yes” to the needs of those in my path is the miracle adventure that is not to be missed.
We as a team went to such families to help them with a dry food ration kit which can take care of a family for a month. We also were able to give a few families waterproof tents and plastic tarpaulin. since we had something very little to come out with and help these 25 families. The need is huge. We still need to help these 300 families that are in desperate need of these same help. We believe God to provide us more than enough to help these families.
There are our church believers, 25 families from different backgrounds have totally lost their houses in this flood. we are praying and asking the lord to provide us for these families so we would we able to construct and rebuild their one Roof tin room along with small bathroom and kitchen
Opportunities to lift up Jesus abound like never before. Attention to the long-suffering work of love produces fruit that lasts. God is good—all the time. He rewards those who diligently seek Him.
Here are the things we would like to do to bring help and relief to these flood affected families
1) We would need more 300 food kit each cost Rs3760 $50x300= $15,000
2) Since winters & snow on way, waterproof tent would need 150 be good, each cost Rs 4200 with fittings $70x150= $10,500
3) 15 to simple rebuild home, brick walls with Tin Roof, each complete cost each Rs 3,50,000 $ 6500x15=$97,500

Dear Least of These Ministries family,
We have recently received an urgent request from our dear friend Arline Oliphint, on behalf of Pastor Ashish M, a dedicated Christian minister living in Jammu Kashmir, North India. Arline has personally met Pastor Ashish during his visit to Phoenix, Arizona, and has kept in close touch with him since his return to Kashmir.
Recently, Jammu Kashmir faced a devastating terrorist attack on April 22nd, which triggered severe conflict and suffering in the region. Families, including men, women, and children, have lost their lives, homes, and livelihoods due to ongoing violence and destruction.
Pastor Ashish has shared a heartfelt appeal through a newsletter highlighting the immense need for prayers and tangible support for both Christian and non-Christian families who have been tragically affected. They urgently require resources for home repairs, dry food rations, clean water, and medical supplies.
We invite you to read Pastor Ashish's newsletter below to understand the depth of this crisis and prayerfully consider how you might assist. If you feel led to contribute directly, you can contact Pastor Ashish via email at ashishurfjk@gmail.com for further instructions on sending your support.
Your generosity and prayers can make a significant difference in the lives of those struggling through this difficult situation. Let us come together in compassion and solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Jammu Kashmir.
